Learning from the Ancestors
Collaborative Anthropology with Indigenous Nations
Thursday, November 12
6:00pm - 8:30pm
Main Library, Theater
Canyon TheaterA lecture on bioarchaeology, repatriation, academic activism, and collaborative research will be followed by a Q&A and social gathering.
For ten years, Meg Hardie (PhD candidate) has focused her expertise on the human skeleton, from identifying fragments of bone to telling the life history of a person through their remains. In this presentation, she will share how this skill set has allowed her to become a resource for Indigenous Nations seeking the return of their Ancestors, learning from them along the journey home. Light refreshments will be provided, supported with funds from the CU Boulder Office of the Vice Chancellor of Student Life and the Anthropology Graduate Student Association.
No images of human remains will be shown in this presentation. All information shared has been approved by the Tribal Council and Cultural Committee of the Pueblo of Pojoaque.
Boulder Public Library District Presents... (BPLD Presents) is a series of cultural, civic and creative happenings that focus on learning about, and building, the community that our library serves. Explore the calendar of events for the Canyon Theater and art exhibitions.
